Frequently asked questions
- Do I need to know any Korean to start?
- No. The beginner group assumes nothing at all. Most learners can read Hangul aloud and introduce themselves within their first few lessons.
- How many people are in a class, and how is the group put together?
- Every class is a small group of about five learners at the same level. A group is only formed once five people at that level have registered, so no one is added to a partially filled or badly matched class.
- When will my class start?
- There's no fixed date, because a class can't be scheduled until five learners at the same level and a workable time zone have registered. We can't promise a start date, but we do promise to email you the moment your group is ready.
- I registered for the waitlist. Why haven't I heard anything?
- That's expected, not a sign you were missed. Nothing happens until five people at your level and time zone have registered — once that group is complete, we email everyone directly with times to choose from.
- Will I be charged anything to join the waitlist?
- No. Registering is free and commits you to nothing. Payment is only arranged directly once a group has actually formed and you're confirming a real class.
- How is this different from a language app?
- An app can't hear that your pronunciation is off, or tell you that a sentence is grammatically fine but the wrong thing to say in that moment. A qualified teacher can, and that's most of what a live small-group class is for.
- Do you teach children?
- The current classes are designed for adult learners. The curriculum, pacing, and example conversations all assume an adult reason for learning Korean.
